oh where, oh where is the OTA?
« on: August 26, 2017, 04:06:50 am »
Hope you are reading this Dave.

Recently, I have been implementing OTAs (operational transconductance amplifiers) in some of my client designs and find them fascinating and a useful analog/functional block (ie: OPA860/OPA861)
http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/opa860.pdf

The old crusty classic LM13700 is still around but it is getting a little up there in age (close to 40 years old and older than some of us- not me however)
I noticed that there is not much OTA discussion in the forums and perhaps a video or fundamentals Friday touching on some the benefits of these babies might rekindle some interest in the community.
I might even tune in myself.....

I just ran across these at Digi-Key. It may be the solution for some designs going forward. It would be nice if one could clearly drive up to 30 mA, but there should be ways around that.
