Hi
I have seen a lot of these LED cubes on utube and find them fascinating yet a real challenge to build and code for any newbie like me.  It would seem they contain some really interesting theory and require a good deal of physical skill to make properly.  However, there are so many different methods of production and components used.  I wondered if your now global audience would appreciate a cube which was designed in your usual innovative way to find the best solution while we learned about the subject of multiplexing and charlieplexing.  It might also save us money on Christmas presents next year - wouldn't you like one?  Check some of them out.  Amazing.

My serious suggestion, build something original instead of yet another LED cube shit. This LED cube junk has been copied, varied and iterated over ad nauseam. It is boring, incredibly boring and just something for posers.

Mmmmmmmm.  Well for my level of expertise as a newbie, the LED cube is an interesting project whether or not it has been hacked to death or not.  You must forgive me for being offensive and suggesting such  an elementary project.  I take it you must have been offended by my posting because of your need to resort to profanity and the fact you suggest I am a poser in your reply.  I am also surprised that your obviously superior level of electronics know-how, sprinkled with a touch of Narcissm I suspect, which 'BoreYouATWork', don't yet allow you to make some positive suggestions to newbies to encourage them along the way.  If you see another of my postings perhaps it would be better if you ignored it.  You might fall asleep with the boredom of it all and accidently hurt yourself.

A slightly thicker skin wouldn't hurt either. Criticism on the project you chose is not the same as criticism on your person.

they have been done to death and there are lots of tutorials out there - even on youtube - just search for charlieplexing or led cube tutorial.

Don't waste your time on him. He sounds very much like the No Child left Behind Generation. He had his chance to learn, he refused to learn because he is so special. It is his problem now.

Yes, I've got agree, plenty of material out there on them. Not sure what I could offer if I did one too.

@melrel

If you are looking for a LED Driver IC with Charlieplexing then check www.austriamicrosystems.com.
The AS1130 supports up to 132 LEDs with PWM (8bit per LED) by using 12 lines and is programmed via I2C.
When using RGB-LEDs or RGBW-LEDs you can create a 3x3x3 cube (27 LEDs) or a monochrom 5x5x5 cube (125 LEDs).
