REPORT New Server Problems Here:
« on: September 18, 2010, 11:34:56 pm »
This will be a thread to report any new server errors since my host SiteCloud have ditched the Amazon cloud.
Please, no discussion on this thread, just reports of any errors so I can feed back to Sitecloud.
They claim I should not see any more errors (or certainly at least no more than any other host provider)

So please be specific with any errors and include as much detail as possible (time(UTC I guess), screen shots if possible, length etc.

Thanks
Dave.

not an error, or an outage.  but i think this is a slightly negative change in behaviour and it is connected to the move.

smf shows the ip address on my most recent post as 10.32.196.98.  obviously that is not my correct ip address; it is in the rfc1918 private class a address space.  it probably refers to a proxy load balancer in the new infrastructure.  or it could be some kind of tunnel address required due to the details of migration.

it would be worth checking whether all or most of the recent posts show these private (10.x.x.x) addresses to the moderator, and asking the host whether this is likely to be a temporary or permanent feature.

the eevblog visitor map still works fine, but that is because it uses an off-site image ("webbug").

Just got an error on the forum:
Code: [Select]
502 Bad Gateway
The server returned an invalid or incomplete response.

Went away after a refresh.

Same problem here. My messages are showing 10.32.196.98 instead of 201.124.x.x.

Anyway, anything else in the forum has been working A-OK!

how to check this? i cant see any IP address in my latest post.

Your IP should be in the bottom right corner of any of your posts.

It shows next to this symbol.

If not, then you might have disabled it from your forum preferences.

Thanks for pointing that out, Sitecloud have been informed and we'll see what they say.

I see the same IP address for everyone as Admin.

Dave.

Quote about the IP issue:
"This appears to be a reverse proxy issue. I know our developers are working on implementing this to resolve that issue. We're aware of it as well. Should be sorted out in the next 24 hours."

Not sure if this has anything to do with the server move, but I was listening to the latest Amp Hour episode this morning (streaming within my MP3 playback software), and the software kept stopping playback every so often and skip to other episodes (as if it reached the end of the current episode). Never had this problem on the good old Amazon servers ;). It seemed like the server just dropped the connection. Haven't debugged this any further, downloading it worked fine.

I had wait 48 hours before I report back , and Yes there is no problems..

Some times I get an a bit jerky response , delay ,  but I guess its about generic traffic load on the net .

I haven't gotten any errors for a few days now, but the forum definitely seems slow. Really slow.

No problems to report, just thought this would amuse you Dave ...

Off and on for the past hour, if you go to FaceBook, you get:

"Internal Server Error - Read
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request."

 :)

*LOL*

From the Huffington Post ...

"This is the second time in two days that Facebook has been experiencing service issues. Yesterday, according to Mashable, problems with a "third party networking provider” caused the disruption. "

Hmm, well if I try to upload a post with .png files as attachments, the post
seems to go in a weird limbo.  It doesn't show up, and if I try submitting again
with just the text, it says I've already submitted the post.

Posts without attached .png (or maybe attachments in general?) seem to be
working just fine.

Maybe it's just me :-)

It looks like it's just my retrocomputing thread which is somehow damaged.
New posts aren't showing up when displayed normally, but if you do a reply
you see the posts.  Guess I'll just lock that off and start a new thread.

Wow, it turns out to be just me.

If I'm not logged in, I see three more posts at the end of the
retrocomputing thread than I do if I log in.  It's like somehow
something isn't synced up with my userid or something.
Maybe something's out of sync in the database?

me too.  but actually if i view source, those three extra posts are in there.  firefox (3.0.11) is refusing to render them, and the rest of the page footer too.  i cannot immediately see anything wrong with the html.  in fact, it seems to render correctly if i save it to disk and then open it.  could it be just a browser bug?

I don't think it's a browser bug because I just tried Internet Explorer 8 and the posts
at the end disappear when I log in as well.

I guess firefox and IE could be broken in the same way, but I wouldn't bet money
on it!
