Suggestion: Boolean search
« on: October 12, 2015, 12:11:21 pm »
Hello.

[I will expand this message later with more info. This is just a reminder.]

Sometimes I try to find information over EEvBlog forums and I miss Boolean operators.

They are very powerful for searching information.

I will explain this better later.

Regards.

I understand what you mean, but my biggest issue with search is either not being able to find any threads(or 1-2 threads) with pertinent information, or finding many threads containing the correct search word.  The thing with the boolean operators is that for the easiest approach, threads would need to be tagged with tags, so you can either omit/include certain tags.

Use google and prefix your terms with site:www.eevblog.com? Not perfect, but nothing is.
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.
Glider pilot's aphorism: "there is no substitute for span". Retort: "There is a substitute: skill+imagination. But you can buy span".

This information congestion issue is quite common in forums. It can be solved by providing wiki integration. I'll explain it here.
