uCurrent's Available Again
« on: August 26, 2010, 11:31:13 am »
Well now, this is rather embarrassing.
For months I've been telling people the uCurrent is sold out and I don't have any left.
What do I find in a box? 10 complete PCB's + parts + blank pcbs!
So I now have 10 fully built units available for sale again, and I have updated the PayPal cart accordingly.
If you want one, hurry!

Dave.

I was lucky enough to catch it in time, immediately ordered one, might come in handy. Had to search around a bit to find the right page (I rarely visit your normal website), for anyone else that's looking, the uCurrent. And it's AUS$, so it's actually cheaper than it appears ;).

Ok  i did some testing , so to see the pricing , and Paypal reports that they are sold out.

I do not do such low measurements,  so  I will never need one ,
but its good as information ..  :)

Gone already? Are you sure there's no demand for them? :P

edit: How about the blank PCB's? Are you willing to sell those too?

Yep, all gone overnight!
Sales spurts like that happen. If I order 100 of them I get stuck with 80 of them and one order dribbles in a week which is annoying and makes it not worth the hassle.

I have spare boards and some parts, will have to see how many more I can assemble with what I've got left.

Looks like I'll have 30 units available again, but it'll take a few weeks at least.

Hooray!!! Take your time and don't push yourself too hard to assemble those units.

I would love to get a kit for this, as that would be fun to build and not to complex to fault find,  I'm sure it will work first time with the great PCB and design.  Its a great tool to have, I would source all the parts myself and cook up a point to point build if I could find the parts. I appreciate its a big part of a project to source all the bits, I just hate that bit.

Its idea is that a meter on a low current range milli Amps, the meter has an "internal resistance" and will affect the circuit you are trying to measure. The meter is in series with the circuit as you know.  The ucurrent uses much lower internal resistance and affects the circuit less, so a more true to life measurement of your circuit without the meter in there, also a more accurate reading, less effect on the circuit and so better than using just your meter on a low current setting. It also outputs a voltage that is proportional to the current and most meters are more accurate on the DC voltage range.

I hope this helps.

oic. so this one is like a add-on device next to our DMM to measure a very low current circuit right? thanx.

Maybe a demonstration from Dave like measuring a very small current with and without this unit will make thing more clear, and possible more customers on the pool !

I think it's an excerpt pulled from #2 (@3m22s roughly).

Here's the pdf file of the original article on Dave's www.alternatezone.com site.

As I was writing this it appears that the cloud's eaten Dave! 503 errors all around. Time to copy and paste this post! Fight the cloud Dave, you can make it!

Hope that helps with the uCurrent confusion. :)

I have the parts, I just need to get them assembled.
It's not going to happen before my US trip though, so it's now end of October at the earliest.

I finally got off my arse and sent the parts away for assembly.
No ETA yet, but I'd expect within 2 weeks.

Where do you get your assembly done? Do you use a quickturn assembler or some china manufacture? I find that some of the quick turn assemblers are crazy high on price and china doesn't want to assemble such small runs (unless it is for approvals before my production runs). I usually end up hand assembling small runs.

Thanks

Hello Dave,

do you have an idea if/when you will be able to sell again. I would be really happy if I could buy this adapter.
