"Unwatch" a thread?
« on: March 12, 2022, 04:08:57 pm »
Is there a way to "unwatch" a thread?  Once you post in a thread, you continually get that thread in the "Show new replies to your posts" page.  Sometimes, threads continue on, or become less interesting/informative/productive, and it'd be nice to be able to somehow indicate that further notifications are not necessary. I use that function on a few other forums, but can't find a way to do it here.  Thanks!

Unfortunately not.  However there is a workaround using 'Ignore Topic'.  See my reply#5 here: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/blog/how-to-'unsubscribe'-from-forum-threads/

Profile > Modify Profile > Notifications > [select thread] UNNOTIFY

No, that turns off *email* notification, which has nothing to do with your  updated topics page.

Any idea how I add a topic to the ignore list? All I seem to be able to do is un-ignore everything in the list which is empty.

Didn't you follow my links back to the topic where Dave introduced it?
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/chat/forum-update-new-ignore-topics-feature/
Do as instructed there and on your unread and new (unread) replies pages you get an [IGNORE TOPICS] button far right, just above the topic list, and each topic has a checkbox far right to select which to ignore when you click the button.   You cannot ignore topics from within them, or from individual forum's index pages.

To be honest, no. By the time I got here to read this thread, there were posts containing the word "ignore" which seemed to be the more correct term for what I was looking to do, so I just blindly wend down that path. The "unsubscribe" bit in your first link subconsciously disinterested me because I've tried doing things like that in the past with no success, although on reflection it was unnotify.

I saw this:
Profile > Modify Profile > Ignore topics.
I saw that it had been thanked so went there and couldn't figure it out, so asked.

Anyway, it worked. Thanks for your help Ian.
