Working with miniature cameras
« on: April 19, 2018, 10:29:36 am »
Hi Dave another idea for a thread or topic for the blog.

What about looking at applications for miniature cameras? I have been looking at some wildlife cameras recently the ones that trigger when something walks by and i wondered what goes into the electronics of these things is it something you could develop yourself? Another area is that cameras are getting added to drones for a variety or reasons!! so making them light, low power consumption, linking to transmission using wifi or blue tooth, all of these are rich and interesting topics.

I saw this recently Eragon™ 820: EIC-Q820-200  when looking for a suitable development kit to play about with cameras but its a bit on the expensive side for a hobbyist like myself. I have had a play with the Raspberry Pi cam but not got much further than that.

Loads of camera modules are available on sites like Alibaba but how do you know what you are looking at what do the specs mean on these miniature devices what chips a Digital Signal Processing is required to get an experimental rig up and running.

It would be good to see a few breadboard inventing type blogs from you.

Ian
