Neat! I am curious about durability however:

- What kind of contacts/switches do you use?
- Is the wheel read optically or contact-based?
- Is there a specification on durability (how many switch and wheel operations)?

The joypad is the following: https://www.ckswitches.com/media/1346/tsw.pdf
All the contact is mechanical  and from the datasheet all the contact have 1M cycle rotation life for each direction.

It's too bad that the series of navigation switches are discontinued.

Yes C&K has retired that product.

But there is another company called Zippy that have the exactly same components, both white and black. 
I don't know if there is some relationship between the two company.
