I have been working on opensource USB 3.0 camera project since quite some time. Here is one project with USB C and interchangeable camera sensor with Lattice Crosslink NX FPGA and Cypress CYUSB FX3 USB 3.0 Controller. Source of project is available on GitHub. While Full project description is available on my blog.

Now this is some really exciting stuff. How much does it cost to manufacture?

Till now i have only made few prototype for Lattice and Infineon them self, There has been no production run. It should cost around 100$ to mass produce in just parts.

Mint RoadRunner. Looks ideal. You can count me in for two if and when you are ready (IMX477).

I'd prob go for one or two with IMX462 or IMX678, 462 preferable due to better qE in range of what I'm looking for.

Great project. Any chance to add a DisplayPort output? Then this camera would be great to use as a microscope.

I wonder if there's enough memory to do some CNN/classification tasks on the FPGA.

Pure awesomeness. What equipment did you use to solder the BGAs?
