Android + Arduino

Coolest little thing I discovered this week. Yeah, you can program the Arduino right from your Android device (if it supports USB-OTG)!

If anything can go wrong, it will.

Interesting, hadn't heard of that feature. Maybe I'll build a little adapter for it.

Adafruit's bluefruit can be used for this too, wirelessly.

personally I could do any decent amount of coding on a touch screen device, but I suppose I could buy a bluetooth keyboard.

I read a few days ago that Google have pulled this app because it does in-app downloads from un-trusted sources. Those downloads are the Arduino libraries that are essential so it's future looks bleak.

Very cool. Does this work with any Android device?

Another option is to use serial Bluetooth. I was able to connect an arduino to an Android using the rn42 serial/BT module on the arduino side and the stock BT of a Nexus 5 (search google Play for 'bluetooth SPP' apps.)

Quad Raspberry pie plus Arduino combatable. (Mega footprint)

Got one. I use the Linux version myself, much faster and more flexible. Android is available for it, and it is ok but shows the limits of Java quite well. It doesnt have all the sensors of a phone but for the price... HDMI, Mouse, Keyboard, proto board and away you go right on the bench. It also has touch screen and camera options if you want that stuff. Cool little board from our Italian friends again.

Interesting, but what is the point?
Android devices are generally not designed for text input, writing code on them is only plausible when there is nothing else available.
No?
