You can change ownership of posts on many forum platforms. But another method is just start a new thread, sticky it. Point the old one to the new one unsticky it and lock it.

That was the way this current thread came into being - when it became necessary to reserve the first few posts to allow for the ever growing mountain of information to be broken up in order to fit within the character limit for a post (which had already been increased by Dave to accommodate the first thread).

Such a process allows the ownership to change without anything more involvement from mods than changing a sticky.
