I checkout this cheap and cheerful laser tachometer.

See my other vids as well!

Have you had a peek inside?

I actually just have bought a similar one; http://www.aliexpress.com/item/SM6234E-Professional-Photo-Tachometer-Wide-measuring-range-and-high-accuracy/32419049074.html

One thing i have noted are, all of them seems to have roughly the same specs. Wonder if they are all the same inside. Will take mine apart later today.
Mine does read up til 1,5m away, tested with my drillpress. I tried with an 20K rpm airgrinder, but i guess the reading distance would be shorter there.
I do really like the backlight. We have some at work with no backlight, thats really a drawback IMO.

One thing that could be handy, would be having a switch to turn the digits upside down. I mostly read mine upside down, for that type of work i do. But i think it will be difficult to hack in there?

We have a similar one at work, don't need anything super accurate so it works well. The downfall is using it outside in sunlight pretty much renders it useless. If I get a chance I'll crack it open and get some photos for a comparison.

I've thought about doing a teardown but i expect it to just be a COB. I would like though to verify the claimed accuracy so that may be a future video.

Wow now I want to take mine apart. I thought it was just going to be a COB or something equally uninteresting.
