What happened to Ave's Patreon?
« on: July 26, 2019, 01:21:40 am »
It still seems to be there, but it's not listed on Graphtreon any more. He used to be in the top 5 Patreon creators.
https://www.patreon.com/AvE

He must have hid his number of subscribers and this removed him from Graphtreon as well?
He used to only have his earning private, number of Patrons was public.

he also hid his subscriber count on youtube a while ago. It is a mystery how a channel, you would expect to have a rather slim target audience , can grow to such huge a number of subscribers and have such a huge number of patreons

If random people around the world were giving me like $10k a month for free I probably wouldn't want all my friends to know either.

Imagine going for a job interview and trying to negotiate salary

Less of a mystery if you consider he doesn't confine himself to an English speaking audience. If the videos are consistent with past videos and Patreons know what to expect, that would have to help a lot too.

Wow, so he has.
His popularity isn't surprising the accent and unique "shop talk" creates an "in group" amoung his audience base.

He's obviously trying to hide as much as he can now.
From a creator point of view I can see now reason to do that, as your audience generally aren't going to care how much you earn, few are going to hold that against you.
So my guess would be laying low for tax or other financial reasons perhaps, as his income is huge (over half a million a year last I calculated it). Another part of his staying off the grid style.
I think he still works a day job (financially he doesn't have to, but probably gives him access to stuff etc), so probably wise to hide financials from your employer.

Yes, a big part of building and maintaining a large audience on Youtube is giving as many of them exactly what they signed up for every time.
That's why channels like AvE and Great Scott for example have large audience and get higher subscriber/view ratios and "broad appeal" and "broad content" channels like mine.

Ah, Graphtreon does still have this page:
https://graphtreon.com/creator/ave
It's just not listed any more, stopped in April.
With a $5 tear only that's $750k a year. Nice, he certainly deserves it.

I think just doesn't want the hassle of being "recognized on the street" famous because he has seen that can also bring out the nut cases

afair his justification for removing the subscriber count was that it shouldn't be about numbers and the number was far too high for channel like his

If anything it's an argument for being paid more. You're in hot demand after all. But AvE seems pretty good at obscuring his identity.

I think it has more to do with his aversion from the masses and popularity. He's been very clear he considers the success of his channel a curse and feels there's too much noise added. It seems likely hiding the numbers is an attempt to keep the channel from growing and attracting too many idiots. Thinking you can fool the tax man would be naive. It's obvious he's generating a fairly nice chunk of change no matter how much you hide the numbers.

If youtube and patreon are using standard banks  and electronic funds transfer then CRA (Canadian Revenue Agency) know the sums already. If he is getting endorsement money and physical gifts, well  that could be done under the table. But from the sounds of it endorsements would only amount to a small fraction of his gross income.
