| 0.1 inch 2.54mm ribbon cable |
| (1/1) |
| Richard Crowley:
Anybody know of a cheap'n-cheerful source of 0.1 inch (2.54mm) pitch ribbon cable? The gross consumer stuff used in mass-market gadgets. A guy over on the audio forum is working on his little Synth box and wants to extend the 18-conductor internal cable. I told him he would be better off just using 18 lengths of hookup wire vs. trying to find 0.1 pitch ribbon cable. https://www.gearslutz.com/board/geekslutz-forum/1263984-boss-dr-110-ribbon-cable.html |

That stuff is useful but it has a bad habit of 'fraying' or breaking at the solderjoint if it's flexed too often, he'd be far better off with some kind of plug and socket arrangement, if he's worried about how the individual wires lie then he could laminate them |
| Ian.M:
Use common as dirt 0.05" pitch ribbon cable and crop short every other wire. |

This looks like it but only 10 conductors. He would have to parallel two pieces to get his width. https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/3m/8124-10-100/3M156818-1-ND/8256334 |

Farnell sells by the meter: https://uk.farnell.com/w/c/cable-wire-cable-assemblies/ribbon-cable-flat-cable/prl/results?pitch-spacing=2.54mm&sort=P_PRICE Biggest wire count in stock is 8 though, so may have to chop that 1m in smaller chunks. may want to look into flat flex ribbon cables categories... some have conductors thin enough to go in holes. ex: https://www.digikey.com/short/pzf9mr also worth checking cable assemblies: https://www.digikey.com/short/pzf99z plain flat flex (may need to strip end insulation, compress terminals to round-er shapes if needed) - https://www.digikey.com/short/pzf95d |
