Any Amplifier Board Interest ? Aleph Mini PCB's and PSU Board
« on: November 28, 2017, 04:15:20 pm »
I did a big order thinking people were going to buy the Aleph Mini Boards from me, there was TONS AND TONS of interest on the Facebook group. I ordered the Aleph mini & power supply board. So far only sold a hand full.   25$ USD gets you 1 pcb that has 2 channels on it & PSU board. Shipped with BOM & schematic

Wondering if anyone on here is interested in a EASY amplifier to build, just populate the parts from the BOM and your ready to use them.

Amplifier Is class A and deliveres from 10-30watts RMS depending on Supply voltage.  Each amplifier is about 10$ to build with parts, the power supply is a bit more depending on how big your caps are and how exotic you want to get. THe psu board can be CRC or just a PSU board.

I did a video on the boards here >

soon to do a build video.

I also have this video of them running just fine.   >

What height/size heatsink did you plan for, I see two TO-264 or TO-3P's on each PCB edge, probably bent flat? How wide is the PCB.
Most of the cost of an amp project is the enclosure/heatsinks and power transformer, to look at the financial commitment.

Have you tried the diyAudio community, they might better appreciate your hard work.

Class-A is a heater, not an audio amplifier. Almost all old amplifiers were class-AB but now many are class-D and soon nearly all will be class-D.

The amplifier PCB is 5.5cm wide and 8.5cm from center of output fet to center other output fet.

I have one set of aleph amplifiers on a L bracket bolted to a thin amplifier chassis.

And the other is flat again'st the heatsink in this chassis.

Yup Class a amplifiers get hot :)   I'll never put a Class D amplifier in my audio room EVER again, they poorly suck IMO !!

There are lousy class D amplifiers and there are good class D amplifiers. With one that is properly designed I would challenge anybody to identify which is the class A and which is the class D amp in a double blind listening test.

Sure  :)

But lets stick to topic, I "personally"  HATE Class D amplifiers :)   If you like them cool :)

I have no strong opinion one way or another, every amplifier topology has advantages and disadvantages and with audio everything is subjective anyway. If one believes something sounds better then it will.

Thread is about PC boards and trolled into a Class A vs Class D debate   :palm:

Anyhow, so min. heatsink height is 55mm + the two TO-247's bent flat and sticking out?
Do you have a pic.

P.S. it was -20C here last week and I could use an F5. 100% efficiency heating my LR.

I'll get you some pics of the two different setups i have.

You should have a pair of Aleph 2's like me then in your "cold" room :)
