Display - Cheap and Large
« on: November 21, 2021, 09:16:23 pm »
Hi

I am looking forward to build a medical routine and tracking unit for myself.

I want to have nice wall covering visualizations. This is my idea :

I like the modular nature of things, and will go that route.

As you can see, I need 56 Screens.

It'd be very cool to have something like this Sony Ericson Xperia Pureness :

But such things are too difficult to read (low contrast).

I have considered :
https://www.exp-tech.de/displays/e-paper-e-ink/8895/waveshare-2.7-e-ink-raw-display-264x176?c=1424

But doing this  means i will have to shell out ~ 600 € + the SPI drivers. But this is too expensive. I need some cheaper alternative.

What are my options ? My requirements are :

  • Size : 3 inch to 5 inches
  • Drive Over SPI, hopfully over Arduino. If not possible, then I am open to ESP / STM32 as well
  • Low power consumption : <0.5 mW. If at all not possible - then i can work my way up to 10 mW max (yes, 3 orders of magnitude change)
  • Resolution : around 170x170 or more

To reiterate, Cheap and low power are also important to me. I am willing to shell out about 4-6 € per unit.
I look forward for your recommendations. Thank you.

Yep sounds like you instead want to get a large TV or one of those laser micro projectors. Likely a cheaper solution and you can run it from the HDMI port on a raspberrypi
