Hi everyone, I finished my latest project and launched it on kickstarter:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/shisalabs/80s-retro-brick-bluetooth-handsetIt's a Bluetooth handset styled like an 80's Brick phone. Closely modeled after the Dynatac 8000x series by Motorola. I designed all of the circuit boards (one main board, display board, and usb charging board). I use a Bluetooth module to handle all of the Bluetooth connectivity and a microcontroller to control the 8 character 5x7 LED display and keypad input.
The Keypad is backlit by an array of 8 leds and all the buttons work. You can place (and answer) calls directly from the handset.
I worked with a mechanical design firm to take care of the 3d modeling and tooling drawings.
Attached are some pictures of the 3d printed parts, unpainted, painted and assembled.
Hope you like it, tell me what you think and if your interested thanks for your support!
