A synchronous rectifier in a 2 pin package

Yet another part that I didn't know existed. A MOSFET and control circuitry in a 2 pin package that looks like an ordinary diode.

Its been for years, TI has it, called SM74611.

The TI device has a different mode of operation and is not suitable for an SMPS as it is designed as bypass diode. Still the idea to use a voltage pump to every now and then charge an internal cap is nice.

But yes, the basic idea to use a MOSFET as switch is similar.
