AC to AC Converter
« on: November 25, 2013, 05:17:31 pm »
i am working on a non servo single phase AC to AC converter (AC buck boost converter). All i got to know is that for this we need a IGBT switching circuit to get 0-50 VAC which can be added or subtracted (depending on phase of output of converter) from the main 230 VAC  to get desired voltage.
However i am not able to get this converter circuit.
can anyone help me get a schematic for AC-AC buck boost or chopper circuit (without DC link in between two stage).i.e direct converters

Some more information about the intended application would be quite useful, for example, whether or not the target efficiency is import, the kind of power level you're working with, whether noise tolerance is an issue with downstream devices etc,

For a general case that scales well in power and good efficiency, bucking circuits would be pretty easily implemented with a single phase matrix converter, boosting is slightly more difficult and would most easily be achieved with an intermediate DC bus,

There's always the nice clean low noise option with digital control... a motorised variac
