ADP1048 current sense Boost PFC?
« on: November 21, 2013, 12:27:38 pm »
I’m trying out the ADP1048 maybe I’m having a brain fart it’s early here but does this Over Current Protection make sense to anyone? The schematic on the left is fine typical return lead sensing. I don’t really want to sense that current (for pulse by pulse OCP) as it’s the full input current. This is an interleaved BOOST PFC (two phase 180 degrees out of phase) so I want to sense the peak current through each inductor that means measuring from the source through Rsense as depicted in the schematic on the right.

How can a voltage develop over the resistor in the fet source if it is bypassed to ground as shown in the schematic on the right?

The schematic was drawn incorrectly.
