The Lamoka1/2
« on: September 30, 2026, 02:04:28 am »
hello, i am working on an open source inverter. I really desire another set of eyes on the pcb layout before i place an order. If anyone has an extra bit of time (and kicad ten) it would be much appreciated. Instead of putting in a low quality screenshot i will just paste a link to the kicad folder of my public repo. Here it is: https://github.com/bearjhartjen/Lamoka1-project/tree/Lamoka1/HARDWARE/Kicadfiles/Lamoka1 feel free to look around in the repo, you will find methods of operation assorted throughout sections.

I apologize if i didn't format this to standard here. I am accepting to any and all feedback, and i prefer to ask why instead of blindly following.

 Have a great day

How much power is this inverter designed for?

If it's high power, then you may not have enough room for a large enough heatsink on the H-bridge.

edit: ok I see your BoM includes a 250VA toroidal mains transformer.  I am going to recommend heatsinking the H-bridge.  A fan blowing over the bare TO-220 packages is insufficient.

For reference, here's an ancient inverter design from a magazine project, but similar in power output to your proposed design (see attachment) and also uses a toroidal output transformer.

Thank you very much for your response and tips.

That magazine was very cool, I am observing it in more detail to get some design choices by them.

I agree that well need a heatsink over the H-bridge, what did you think of how close the mosfets where and the orientation? I was trying to make it so i could make a custom heatsink in between the FETs to direct air flow.

Have a good day :)
