Alpha Omega Semiconductor any information
« on: October 21, 2013, 12:24:14 pm »
Has anyone any experience with Alpha Omega Semiconductor? They are relatively new to the market and I'm not sure how I feel about them. I design stuff which will be produced 10 years from now, industrial stuff, and they already have NRND and obsolete parts. On the other hand, they have FETs (high current) which are way cheaper than the brand parts. And most of their stuff is package/pin compatible with them. Are they one of the companies only good for consumer market, or should I give them a go?

I've used their DC-DC converters - very cheap -only minor concern is only Digikey seem to stock them, so if out of stock you may be screwed. Richtek also has a range of cheap DC-DCs, with a similar igikey-only situation.
Can't comment for scheduled orders/ long leadtime orders.

Mike's Electric Stuff: High voltage, vintage electronics etc.

Looks like Arrow has them also, some of the components are in 100.000s. I guess, it could not hurt, to use them as "compatible", with a vishay or ST as backup. That would make the pointy haired boss happy. just kidding. I have an awesome boss.

I've used them and have no reason to doubt their quality. They openly admit that their target markets are high volume products, and they're not looking to take on the larger brands in terms of the breadth of their range.

They may well have a local sales office in your area who will provide tech support and samples - mine (in the UK) was very helpful.
