NiMH Charger Schematic
« on: April 25, 2021, 04:24:12 pm »

This is a NiMH discharge/charge circuit based on NXP application note AN3392, which can be found at https://www.nxp.com/docs/en/application-note/AN3392.pdf.

I have attached the simplified diagram posted found in the above mentioned application note.

Will this work or need any changes?

You have no significant size capacitor on the input and none on the output. I'd put a few 100uF on both sides, but it depends on frequency of course. What are you using to drive Q1B and what frequency?

The original circuit has a 330µF and 0.1µF capacitors on input. None on the output side.

I will add 3 x 47µF capacitors on input. I am planning to use a PIC16 running at 16MHz. The ADC acquisition and conversion time will decide the switching frequency. Probably I can make provision for capacitors on output and decide on values later.

I got a email notification saying @Le_Bassiste has posted a reply to this topic. The thread on the forum shows no such reply?

Anyone knows what is going on?
