Looking for an opamp with low input offset voltage
« on: July 02, 2012, 10:15:50 pm »
Hi. I am looking for an opamp that can handle +/- 18v and has lower than 1mv input offset voltage. I have found a TS514AID. This has Vos of 500uV. That is okay.

I have looked at Linear and Analog Devices and there are loads of devices but they cost quite a bit. I was hoping for something relatively cheap. Maybe around the £1 mark?

Is there a tried and trusted part that people usually go for that fits this spec?

Thanks

If i wanted a low Iov opamp i still would go for chopper amps unless budget constraints kick in

Check TI, they have quite a few that match your requirements.  The OPA277 and the LF411 are pretty standard parts that don't break the bank, but really there are lots of them.  Probably from other manufacturers too.  1 mV is not a particularly stringent requirement -- most general purpose (i.e., not low power) opamps with transistor inputs will meet it.  It can sometimes be difficult to find those in the midst of all the micropower CMOS stuff.

Chopper stabilized amps are indeed the undisputed champions of low offset voltage, but it doesn't sound like you need that level of performance.

Thanks for the responses. I forgot to mention I am looking for a quad package.

I would prefer a much lower offset. 0.1mv would be great but every time I find something it is quite a lot. There are a lot of opamps out there. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any specific ones that are cheap that have really low offset in quad package.

Thanks
