Circuits Cloud: The Online Digital/Analog Circuits Simulator

Hello everybody,

I would like to introduce our project "Circuits Cloud" to you, it is an online digital/analog circuits simulator. It is NGSpice-based simulator.

Here is a list of the project features we implemented:

1. Free & Online Cloud Application.
The application is free to use. It is cloud-computing-based application.

2. Circuit sharing and privacy options.
You can share your design with your partners, colleagues and teachers, or you can keep it private.

3. Interactive Simulator.
The new simulator (v3.1 Build 1A001) supports:
* Creating multiple simulation profiles (DC Operating Point, DC Sweep, Transient Analysis and AC Sweep).
* Capturing a snapshot of the simulation results.
* Reading the graph values with mouse pointer.
* Interactive current movement, nodes are reflecting the current flow.

4. PIC Microcontroller Simulator.
If you are a PIC-uC-designer, then it is recommended to use the PIC micro controller simulator in Circuits Cloud.

5. Large schematic area. (to draw your design).
No limitations in the schematic area, you can draw your design schematic whatever big it is.

6. Built-in designs library.
A library with pre-built analog and digital designs, where you can collect your design idea from.

I'm not going to bother to register and give a spammable email address until after I know whether I want to use it.

You have 30 seconds to give me an "elevator pitch", before my attention goes elsewhere. In that you should let me understand
  • if I spend some of my remaining life on the site, what will I get in return? Preferably, what will I get that I cannot get elsewhere, e.g. via LTSpice
  • what components are available, and what do/don't they model?
  • what forms of analysis are available?
  • how do I import/export data?
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

I tried it, it uploaded a virus to my computer, then all my teeth fell out.

Why exactly does everything need to be "cloud-based"?

I enjoy working when I don't have an active Internet connection too...

What advantages does "cloud based computing" have over an ordinary desktop?  Does this tool support SMP and run on powerful backend servers?

Even then, I don't know that any SPICE based environment is capable of more than a modest boost from SMP (let alone anything about GPU, if one has even been implemented in that way yet), so I don't see how this can be a big (= marketable*) advantage.

What advantage would I have using this service over, say, LTSpice?  (Which is free, and SMP capable -- well, free except for all the chips it sells.  It's a marketing tool, and a damn good one based on the praise it gets!)

If not, I can't think of a single possible reason or incentive someone might want to do it that way.

*Except it's free, I guess, which begs the question... what, or who, is the actual product at stake?  ("If you're not paying for it, you're the product!")
