| Anyone else effected by Corona Virus issue for PCB production? |

| Fusion916:
Im a small time designer that makes board that I sell and I have been using pcbway for years. They used to be a extremely fast for small quantities (less than 100 pcbs per order), where I could potentially send them the gerbers and could have the boards at my door in maybe 3-4 days. Now my latest order that finally shipped took them about double that. And now I just submitted another order for a different board, with the estimated time being 18 days... I'm wondering now if this is going to end up being some kind of large scale global issue with electronics delays. Is Dave being effected with this multimeter project? |

I order my PCBs to JLCPCB, and sometimes to ALLPCB, and I have not had any problems with long delivery delays. In some cases, it may have taken 3 or 4 days longer than usual, or there have been no delays. In JLCPCB they did warn on their website, that orders for PCBs with special characteristics, could suffer some delay, such as using a non-green solder mask. In ALLPCB with a blue solder mask, there were only 3 days of delay compared to the usual one. In general I have not noticed significant delays in the order of my PCBs. |

The place I work is running several weeks behind on PCBs, but I understand that the factories are coming back on line. We went back to in-country suppliers for some things to meet deadlines. Price was much higher but we'll just have to eat it because not shipping is a non-starter. |

We've had to source boards from a UK manufacturer as our usual (Chinese) supplier wasn't sure when they could complete production, though these were fairly specialist designs. An annoyance for the program managers but (quite literally) first world problems compared to the nightmare the Chinese are suffering. Have a bad feeling things are going to get a fair bit worse before they get better though. |

There was the normal, yearly delay for the Chinese new year (a week or so long national holiday where the postal system doesn't seem to run on normal years), but with the Coronavirus, some places had extended "holidays" mandated and there has been increased scrutiny for shipping and generally doing business in China. It does seem that the worst is past for delays in China, specifically, but a few countries have imposed additional checking/restrictions on parcels from China, and with the happenings in Italy and South Korea, it seems like there is some risk of spreading yet in this virus, so it may still be plaguing logistics for a bit longer. I believe there have been some supply chain related delays announced from major companies because of the outbreak, and it will likely manifest as delayed product launches since there's cancellations in attending conventions and whatnot as well. |
