Are flex PCB current tolerances the same as regular boards?

I'm starting to design my first project using a flex PCB and was wondering if anyone knew how much current they can support? I've seen a bunch of different online trace width calculators online, but they all seem to be targeting regular PCBs. My project needs 5V @ 3 amps max and was wondering if that is something a flex PCB with a wide enough trace (e.g. 3.5mm) would be able to support or not.

Using printed solder mask, not coverlay, which could be an issue for some assemblies exposed to flexing.

Thanks for the responses. I'll knock something up in Kicad and see how much OSHPark would charge for a one-off (or three). Assuming there were no issues with the board design, I'd probably be looking at making about 10-20 of them, so other makers might be more suitable, as the prices drop dramatically when quantities are scaled up a little.
