Advice Needed:

I want to generate a constant 500 mA that limited to 12V out. I want to use a 6V battery to do it.

Any ideas on the best way? I could use a boost converter and use a voltage follower & MOSFET into a 1 ohm resistor, like Dave did in his current source. Or I could use a current mode DC-DC converter.

Any ideas on a better way? Is there a current mode converter that would do it? Please suggest a chip to do DC-DC conversion for this.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance,
