Title: Ascii/hex serial port terminal software
Post by: electroguy on March 01, 2012, 05:30:53 am
Hi,

about 5 to 8 years ago i used some terminal software for interfacing to a serial port and microcontroller.
It was very similar to hyperterminal, putty, teraterm, realterm etc...
however, this software also displayed hex in blue mixed in with ascii for bytes that were not printable (ie, outside the normal 0-9,a-z range.
To cut a long story short, i can't remember the name of it, and need it back. Has anyone used it? know what it is called? i need to dl it asap!

Just so you know what i am talking about, it would display ascii and hex similar to this:

\01\02\03\04This is an ascii string with 4 hex bytes at the start and end of it\01\02\03\04

etc........

any ideas? or anyone know of software that can do something similar?

You might browse through this thread and see if any the names mentioned ring a bell:

I think you are looking for something like this:

http://www.der-hammer.info/terminal/bilder/term_065win_large.png (http://www.der-hammer.info/terminal/bilder/term_065win_large.png)

The program is called HTerm and can be downloaded here:

http://www.der-hammer.info/terminal/ (http://www.der-hammer.info/terminal/)

The website is in german but the program is completely in english.
I use this program a lot and can highly recommend it.
