Hey Guys,
I have just been given a ASUS TF 101 Transformer tablet. Someone dropped it and it no longer works - have they no respect for electrical goods?
They had actually dropped it out of a car once and it still worked. But this time they weren't so lucky.
However, there is no physical damage that I can see, with a quick visual check. Screen - OK, frame - OK, buttons - OK. But it will not boot up.
Does anyone have a wiring schematic for this tablet, as I am flying blind at the moment and also don't have access to all my electrical test equipment at the moment (we have shifted house). But me being impatient, want to either get it up and running now or do some homework so that when I can do all my testing, I am ready for it.
Does anyone know of any common faults or sensitive components likely to fail if some idiot drops it?
Thanks for your help
Cheers

Is it fully charged? (typical CSR question)
Perhaps hold the (top left) power button and volume DOWN button for ~10-15 seconds for a cold reboot (A screen should pop up, just try a reboot rather than a full reset initially, if that doesn't work, then a full reset).
If not, lots of info here;

G'luck!

Thanks, I did charge it last night, but they said that it still had charge when they dropped it. I have tried a cold reboot, but nothing at all comes up. I guess it requires a little more investigation. No chance of a wiring diagram?
Thanks again for your reply.

I have checked the battery condition and it is 8.07V (7.4V battery), so that is OK.
I have hooked it up to my laptop and altho it recognises the device, when I open the main folder, it is E-M-P-T-Y..............not good. So either all the data has gone to that great big place in the sky where all ones and zeros go or I may have a faulty connection somewhere or maybe a destroyed processor. Just thinking out loud.
Will try and download the drivers from the ASUS site and see what happens.

Try holding down power and volume down for 10 seconds or so or until the screen lights up. Then press volume up to enter recovery mode.
I wonder if it was in fact "bricked" and they said they "dropped" it because they didn't want to admit what really happened. You can recover from that by holding power and volume up in order to enter a low level bootloader.

Might also be a broken connection internally.
The speakers on mine are flaky after having it tossed around in luggage, I often have to squish the sides to get sound out of it.
I guess it's a known issue with cracked/open solder joints on the speakers, so there may be other weak spots also.

I should take mine apart & fix it, ..but just too lazy :P
Again, there are methods for accessing and reflashing on the XDA forums
