Audio Recording Solution Help

Hi Guys, I'm looking for a decent (low cost) solution to add audio recording to a project. I am using a microcontroller to do a variety of other tasks, and although it could do the audio recording, it would interfere with the other things it needs to do. What I'm looking for is a part that can take the mic input and record the audio compressed to a spi flash, for later retrieval by the host microcontroller (via SPI).

I found some parts but nothing that seems perfect. Hoping someone has already come across something.

So after doing more research it seems like a second microcontroller is likely the best way to go. I get everything I want going this route.
