Fake ST SGS Thomson Part (GS-R405S)
« on: January 25, 2019, 03:25:40 pm »
Looking for a little help.

We have purchased some GS-R405S from a reputable seller here in UK.

I have the feeling with have both been duped by his seller.

(1) There is a label with the makers details on the top of the device ... Not screen printed !
(2) The tolerances are miles out for the pin spacing etc. Over 3mm
(3)  A couple have bounced back on me now as well as a fail on the bench
(4) Have seen china sellers on ebay selling same batch / date code on ebay again on the label

Just looking to see what others think  :-// :-//

Thank you for reading

BR

You know that´s an obsolete part so as supplies are getting low...

The problem is also that´s it´s potted... not going to be easy removing all that...

But it might be parts that were indeed marketed for the Chinese market and are just reappearing, try to save non-function-critical costs isn´t that crazy,
especially if they try to sell in a competitive market.

About the tolerances, are you absolutely sure it´s the same variant? It could be the same part but not the same variant.

Try to de-pot the failed one! The devil is in the details, meanwhile contact your seller, things like that happen all the time.
If you are an engineer and you are not tired...
You are doing it wrong!
