Small display module for military application usage
« on: August 24, 2018, 03:06:29 pm »
We are working on a military radio product where we are basically looking for a small display to be used in a hot swappable remote display for this radio device. The display could be a small 16x2 line kinda LCD or may be a small 64x32 dots LCD or a 128x64 dots LCD but should be low power consuming and should have a temperature operation range from -40C to +85C Mil Temp range. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you want a wide temperature LCD..... they are available from major distributors and on request from LCD makers, there should be many options.

If -20- +70 would suffice then take a look at JDI IOT range

Is that a good idea for a military radio, what if the hot swap able thing gets lost in the heat of combat. Or it gets hit with concussion and the display gets dislodged in some kind of explosive attack or vehicular ramming situation, at the start of an ambush, where you really need to radio for help. Or the command camp or whatever gets attacked or overrun and you need to grab shit quickly and get out of there.

I hope you have two displays on it? Maybe have the permanent display under the removable display module. And of course you can get interference that renders the radio useless.

Is it like a smart watch or something?

Yes, that is a secondary remote display which is only required for some customers, the radio itself has a primary display unit.
