axial capacitor support structure?
« on: November 18, 2023, 06:40:25 am »
Is there a generic round part support structure for axial components that is a partial circle as hardware you can buy?

and does anyone know maybe a parametric program for 3d printer prints? I want to center the axial caps in my project box. The 30uF one is heavy, and the 220nF one has tiny leads !

This was supposed to be a 1 minute project and its already  >:(

I guess its kind of like a zip tie holder. Maybe a double zip tie holder that is good enough can be found.

If anyone knows a good zip tie clamp that would work, or a series of them....

As I mentioned in your other post about Teflon caps, at Ferranti we used large axial capacitors that were cable tied to a double thickness pcb and wedges were epoxied either side of the capacitor. It was reliable enough for fighter aircraft. :)

The best I found is this
https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/panduit-corp/ABMT-A-Q/810899

There may be a better size, I don't have the patience to go through them right now. But if you put a bit of silicone rubber under the cap, it should sit nicely.

If you don't believe in one zip tie you may use two zip ties. Just drill holes for them. Otherwise you have to tell us more about conditions.

the thing i found is pretty close but its not dedicated for components, two separate holes for each zip tie would be nice. if there was a series for different part diameters it would be sick

i usually hope people enthusiastic about the topic will add extra information not hyper specific answers
