Title: Battery powered lab power supply
Post by: ptricks on July 15, 2013, 01:21:38 pm
Has anyone seen a lab supply that can use either AC or DC for the power source ?
I have quite a few 18650 cells and was considering building a supply around them as both something that is portable and something that is guaranteed to be isolated from the work.  I'm thinking I will put all the cells internally and put a jack on the back for charging the cells. I am thinking it could do a range of -12V to +12V at several amps easily.
Anyone done something like this before ?

I think it can be done, but the capacity of a 18650 is (2200–3400) mAh so if you are going to use it for several amps the battery will go flat very fast. if the power supply will be used to power small projects for example, it will be a great power supply to build.
