QTDMM
« on: February 16, 2015, 03:18:36 pm »
Hello All
My son ordered me a Tekpower 4000 (I asked him to get a 2834R oh well next time) which has computer output.
I use Linux so it meant righting my own software (no big deal I,ll have a go in Python) but I found someone had beat me to it with qtdmm which means Digital Multimeter written in QT obviously.
Any how if any one else needs help installing this as not every one likes the command line then I,ll try and make it easy as possible. If I hand out scripts to beginners which experienced folk tend to do then that is no help either as they struggle with the executable bit and calling the file.I remember I did.It looks to work with most meters built around common chip sets so If it works under Windows then it should here.

If you're going to choose to use Linux, using the command line somewhat comes with the territory. You can avoid it, but it's silly to as many things are designed for it and it's a really powerful tool anyway. If you're going to write code, using the command line really comes with the territory. That's where all the good tools are. And if you're going to do either of those things, figuring out stuff like chmod +x also comes with the territory...

Yes I agree I am happy to use no window manager at all and if you don,t use command line then you are missing out but look how Linux as changed over the last ten years .To attract Windows folk you don't need to really .Actually they don't recommend going out side the package system.Getting qtdmm put into  the repositories is the answer but for now if a user needs help then I'm offering.
