LF: power amp; opamp + darlingron , 50-60V
« on: January 09, 2018, 10:13:16 pm »
Hello,

Would someone provide a tip  on an audio amplifier schematic , opamp + darlingtons, V dual - 50-60Volt.  ?
not a krazy complex one .... I'd like to play\tech myself, using a SONY receiver remains.

Thanks, in advance.

Here is a site with archived mags, like Popular Electronics, Electronics World,
over the years a number of designs to build were published.

http://www.americanradiohistory.com/Popular-Electronics-Guide.htm

Usually the Dec or Jan issue had the prior years index of articles.

You can try using a 'OPA452 or OPA453' for +/- 40v range, OPA454 for +/-50v and  'LTC6090 or LTC6090-5' for +/- 70v range, feeding an NPN/PNP matched darlington in a class B or class AB configuration.  Make sure you have some safety added series resistors on the emitters and perhaps thermally bonded diodes on the Bases to compensate for temperature thermal runnaway.

You can also use audio output opamps like a LM3886, +/-40v, which may drive over 7 amps (you may not want anything else other than to use 2 in parallel and forget about transistors...) to drive your darlingtons or normal NPN/PNP if your goal is a killer strong to the death output current.

Don't forget about the possibility to bridge your output, doubling your V-pp, quadrupling audio power.

You can look to various application note's from venders.
By example in this application note (AN18 Linear technology) on page 6 and 7 they are discussing a +-120V output stage for a common opamp.
