RS485 full duplex
« on: November 22, 2014, 04:48:33 am »
I am using the LTC2863 driver and it doesn't have driver enable pins broken out. I was wondering if it is needed for multi slave bus?

I can't see how you could implement a multi-drop bus with that chip.
That version appears to be intended for simplex, point-to-point applications.
If you have more than one transmitter, you must be able to disable them except when transmitting.

Assuming by "multi slave bus", you mean a bus with more than one transmitter, you must be able to disable all the transmitters except when sending data onto the bus.  That would preclude the LTC2863 variety. But all the other varieties have the enable feature, so you must use a different chip.
