As resonance occurs when the capacitor's reactance equals that of the paralleled inductor (X
C = X
L), the value of the capacitor can be calculated.
Using the formula X
L = 2πfL, the reactance of the 22uH inductor is 1866.11 - at Metcal's 13.5MHz operating frequency.
Rearranging the capacitor reactance formula in terms of C, and substituting the inductor's reactance for X
C, gives:
C = 1/(2πfX
C)
= 1/(2 x π x 13500000 x 1866.11)
= 6.3
