cable carrying display and camera streams
(1/1)
andrea.longobardi85:
Hi All,
I am working on a project involving a PI-0 and a remote display and remote camera. For remote I mean 2 meters away.
Current solutions is to connect them via long flex cables...I though I could replace them with serdes and coax/Twisted pairs.
I also need to carry a little bit of power over the cable to power the remote unit...let's say something around 2.5W MAX.
How would you address that? My initial thought was to look for a dual coax cable, but cannot find a proper one...Second option would be to use a STQ (2 twisted pairs in shielded cable) but I need to find a way to carry the power...third option USB type C cable...
Any hints?
Thanks!

Depending on the camera/display protocol (analog, digital?), you can send DC down the coax and AC couple the video - very common technique.

Display and Camera both with digital Input/Output. Also I need to carry the I2C bus across but this comes handy with a serdes.
I agree with power over coax, I wonder if I can do something similar with a twisted pair and the shield...

Regarding the dual coax cable, you can look at using VGA display cables as they are 3x coax and ~10x 28AWG sideband conductors in a 6mm OD package.
