Looks like it's designed for specialised and industrial applications - it has an extended high temperature range, etc.

Still, it's pretty expensive! It's part of Analog's sample program though :)

Expensive everywhere! I sometimes find farnell/element14 have whacky prices on some things that are far cheaper elsewhere but I guess not in this case.

It's probably something that's still needed for some obscure piece of equipment and manufactured in very low quantity just for that product.


You can quite often get this sort of thing in the medical or aerospace industry where you can't just swap to a newer/cheaper part without needing to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars getting the whole product recertified.

And, as joelby said, it has a really wide temp range, so its quite a specialized part.
