Choosing a power entry connector

I'm trying to choose a power connector. Any recommendations?

- 24VDC, 2A max.
- 2 pins (V+ and Gnd)
- Cheap is good.

- PCB mounted, right-angle, will poke through a plastic housing but does not have to be mechanically held onto the plastic.
- Must have some sort of clip or lock, cannot be pulled straight out.
- Typical "barrel" power connectors are therefore no good.

Perhaps Molex Mini-Fit Jr.? Latched, 4.2mm raster up to 13 A, 600 V.
As cheaper then genuine crimping tool a PAD-12 could be used.

Or the Wurth clone (MPC3), a lot cheaper. I use them all the time.

Those look to be clones of the Micro-fit (3mm pitch) rather than the Mini-Fit (4.2mm).  I might be hesitant to use connectors like that due to the difficulty of providing suitable strain relief to the entering cable.  If this is an internal component or something where the connector isn't exposed to the cruel outside world it could be fine, but I'd be concerned about anything that might get rough handling.  Without a shell that firmly grips the overall cable, the crimp terminals will have to bear ALL of your mechanical load.

Switchcraft make barrel connectors with threaded locking nuts that are pretty nice, but not sure if there are PC mount jacks for them. 

Maybe mini XLR? Or regular XLR if you've got a lot of space to burn.  Switchcraft TRA3M connectors are rated 5A.

That's good point ajb. It's not the same if connector belongs to internal or external wiring. I suggested Molex for internal (inside enclosure) application.

Uses a 2.1mm plug, good for 5A, locking ring to secure it.
