Energy monitoring with 40 current clamps - needs your help
« on: March 04, 2024, 07:49:25 pm »
Hi guys.

My electrical box in house has approximately 40 electric fuses.
Currently I am monitoring only 4 but I would like to monitor all 40.

My current system is like this:

Four current clamps SCT006 are connected to differential inputs (through some resistors) of ADS1115 (ADC). Two of this ADC are connected to ESP32 trough i2c.
ESP32 sends data to my HomeAssistant trough mqtt.

I have two ideas how to accomplish monitoring of all fuses but I would really like to hear your input about it before I fully commit.

Idea 1:
Use 5x ADS1256 (ADC with 8 inputs) connected to arduino micro over spi. Every 10 seconds send all 8 measurements over serial port to RPI Zero W. And from PI Zero direct sql insert to Pi5 with MySql DB.
(This PI would have DB on SSD for more reliable storage and will be in another room)

Idea 2:
Use 5x ADS1256 (ADC with 8 inputs) connected to ESP32 over spi. Every 10 seconds send all 8 measurements with http (post) request to PI 5. Web server on it would then save this data to MySql DB.
(This PI would have DB on SSD for more reliable storage and will be in another room)

Idea 3:
Perhaps there is better more efficient way to achieve the same result? I would love to hear from you guys...
