Hi,
whenever I work with controlled impedance, I typically ask the PCB manufacturer for their preferred stackup. However, it’s becoming increasingly common for my clients to prototype with one company, then move to another for production, and eventually shift to a manufacturer in the Far East as volumes increase.
I’m trying to avoid the need to adjust the track gap every time we switch PCB suppliers.
So, I was wondering... have any of you identified 4-layer and 6-layer stackups that tend to be "standard" or at least much more common across different manufacturers, particularly within Europe? Alternatively, are there any stackups that, even if not widely used, have values that fall somewhere in the middle range for many manufacturers, so that the track gap remains within the typical matched impedance tolerance of +/-10%?
If not, how do you handle similar situations? Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
