Connection header for SIP modules.
« on: July 13, 2020, 05:56:06 pm »
I noticed that SIP modules usually use these kind of connector to connect with the other boards.

Does anyone know the name of this connector? And where to get them (digikey, aliexpress, etc...).

Thanks in advance.

It looks like a simple 100 mil pitch. Will fit a solderless breadboard and female pinheader sockets. Tons of connectors with that pitch. But measure it to make sure.

the pins look too small and short for header connectors, they look more like IC pins, so something like this

It is 100 mil pitch connector, and they usually used it for small power supply modules, vertical breakout board, etc... I am looking for some to make my own board... they are a little bit flaky like the IC pin

Pretty sure they are meant to be soldered in place.

It always bothers me that they sell these things without the leadframe.

Sorry for the not-so-brilliant question, but why do you want the leadframe?

Also, thank you for pointing me to the right part :D I am gonna do so much with it

Because it ensures perfect alignment of the pins. Mount and solder with leadframe, break/cut the leadframe and your pins are perfect. I'm with Alex here.

Thanks for the explaination. Too bad the only place I can find them with the leadframe is ebay, and the price is... well, not comparable to digikey. I guess I'll have to improvise (unless somebody happens to find something cheaper)

Check the official TE channels (distributors etc.). Normally you'd buy a complete reel of these things, but we've no idea how many you need.

BTW: here's the product list for selecting pitch, plating, board thickness etc.:

I don't doubt it, with all the vintage computing stuff going on with so many .100 DIP parts, it's weird that these things aren't more popular.

These pins ensure no damage to the DIP sockets.
