Correct methods for wiring up a Panel Mount C14 Male Plug

Hello,

I have a C14 Male Plug that is panel mountable, the reverse of the plug looks like this: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/pBsAAOSwpP9Y5fVY/s-l1600.jpg. However, I'm not certain of the best way to connect the wires to this? I could solder however the shape and the holes in the flanges would indicate another way which would be more preferable. What is the best practice approach here?

Those are for soldering.

Tin the wire, pass it through and bend it back on itself, solder.

I would instead just pre tin the wires and the holes, heat the solder on the holes, insert the wire, let the solder flow and combine, done. No folding over of the wire, except you enjoy burnt plastic and blisters on your fingers if you try to unwrap those things a later time because you decided to wire that receptacle an other way than you first intended.

Also, consider adding heatshrink tubing over the solder connections to insulate it a bit.

You should always fold the wire over through the eye in the terminal so it cant come off and flop around inside the equipment if the terminal is overheated to the melting point of solder by a C13 cord with poor contacts.   Yes its a PITA if you need to rewire it, and its generally nessercery to cut away as much wire and solder from the terminal as possible with sharp side cutters, before desoldering and sucking the hole clear.
