Could you recommend LCR meter to me ?
« on: May 14, 2019, 10:05:24 am »
Hello, EEVBlog Users !

Always Thanks you for your attention. I really appreciate always...

In this moment, I am looking for LCR meter to measure RLC components of Sensorless BLDC motor (RC type).

the Problem is, I am not sure which range of price is fine to my goal.

Might be 60~70 $ range will be fine to use ?

If you don't mind, I would like to ask advise.

Please, Let me know.

Check out the Der EE DE-5000. It's slightly more expensive than what you want to spend, but it's an excellent LCR meter.

The Mastech MS5308 LCR meter has the same testing values, not sure if it's cheaper, but it seems to be a relieable LCR meter, and it has a DC input plug that allows it to be a bench top LCR meter without batteries.

++1 on the de-5000. you would have to spend a lot more than the $100 it is sold to get a really better device.

If i recall    they had some problems with their ac-dc adaptors in the past,  if you buy the model with the red Mastech lettering, it should be a latest version .....

It's also way beyond the budget.

Another vote for the DE-5000.  I've had one for about 2 years and it is one of my most useful tools.

An aftermarket mod to improve the test leads is common, there are threads here discussing this.

Ya, I think I remember that, they were saying it was something to do with the DCR measurement, and it was due to their adaptor not working right.

You can however, like I have, just use your own.  The DCR measurement is just fine with the AC DC adaptor I'm using.

Yes, as I own old MS-5308, the power adapter basically crap, but what I love about MS-5308 is its big  :), especially it has big LCD as it helps my deteriorating eyes, beside normally LCR meter is not that mobile like handheld DMM does, for me mostly it was used on bench.

Also the kelvin clips attachment and its wires are quite handy and easy to fix if there is a problem, which is norm as mechanically it moves alot.

Btw it uses 8 (yes, eight)  AA cells  ::), but for me its actually quite handy as I use Eneloop cells, haven't charge them I think for > 2 years, probably used just few times a month and the battery indicator still the same as freshly charged.  :-+

I still use the 9v alcaline battery that was delivered with my de5000 some 5.5 years ago ... and I use it almost every week end.

+1 Der EE DE-5000
Hobbyist and a retired engineer and possibly a test equipment addict, though, searching for the equipment to test for that.
