Title: CVBS (Analog video) to HDMI conversion IC
Post by: Jadon on September 05, 2022, 02:52:00 pm
I've been attempting to find a solution to converting an SVBS video signal to HDMI (1080p/30fps) hopefully using a single chip. I found a chip which accomplishes exactly what I need, the MS1858E by macrosilicon. The only issue is that I can find almost nothing on the internet about this IC nor can I find it in stock anywhere. I have found one or two other chips but they are either not manufactured anymore or are just way overkill for what I need to accomplish.

Ha anyone got any advice on the easiest way to do the conversion using a chip that preferably uses less than 100+ pins? Or another solution entirely?

Buy one of these, open it and see what's inside:

Why would he bother looking into VGA adapter.
As of video converter chips, IME researching them, they basically never come with full (useable) datasheets which are openly available. As of particular chip, it's a Chinese company so I guess you could try contacting them, if you are extremely lucky maybe they will give you a datasheet without NDA and requirement of being HDMI adopter. But your best bet is buying a dev board on taobao and reverse engineer it. I personally likely would buy a bunch of inexpensive converters and look what's inside and if ICs are available on some Chinese sales platform. Any IC with HDMI = basically forget about datasheets and components (except dodgy Chinese sources) without being a company and shelling a bunch of money to become HDMI adopter.
