DC-DC boost regulator for a negative supply
« on: August 04, 2020, 11:05:20 am »
I have been looking at the plethora of DC to DC buck and boost switching regulators that can be found on EBay as I have a need for a dual rail solution to provide me with +/- 20V output from a +/- 12V dual rail DC source at around 1A for the positive rail and 300mA for the negative rail. There doesn’t seem to be anything designed to act as a boost in the negative polarity and I am wondering why? Would anyone have any suggestions as to where I could look for an off-the shelf solution? I don’t mind designing linear supplies but I don’t have enough experience with switchers to design something from scratch. Am I barking up the wrong tree trying to use boost converters for this application?

Inverting boost regulators exist, so it could all be run off of a single +12V rail. +/- boost modules are available as well, that have one boost and one boost inverter on there.
