Differences between TIP35C and TIP35CW
« on: November 11, 2013, 02:33:31 pm »
I'm repairing a servo drive on one of our machines here at work, and Mouser shows they're out of ST branded TIP35C's (until January), but they have TIP35CW's, this drive also uses TIP36C's as well in the other half of the H-bridge, so I would be buying the matching complement as well.    Just want to know what difference the 'W' suffix makes in the part and if it would make enough difference for my application.

I'm already ordering a bunch of other stuff from Mouser, and don't want to make another order through Digikey for the transistors if I can help it.

A bit of research shows that they appear to be identical. The datasheets are effectively identical except for different change logs and revision numbers. I'm thinking that TO-218 and TO-247 versions existed with different part numbers in the past, but now everything is being moved over to TO-247.
I have more incomplete projects than I have digits and toes.

Rev 4 (2008) of ST datasheet for TIP35C changed package from TO-218 and TO-247. TIP35CW was in TO-247 from the beginning. ON discontinues TIP35C in TO-218 and will make only TIP35CG in TO-247.

It is hard to be definitive without looking at the manufacturer's datasheet.

Thanks minime and wraper, I was wondering if that was the case.
